EP075 – Speed 2 (1997) with Give Me Back My Action Movies

Charlie and Nate from Give Me Back My Action and Horror Movies join us. Pete and Troy have been moonlighting over on their podcast and we finally got them on our show. Six podcast hosts = chaos. Enjoy.

We got a fun Millie report from Kathleen. She’s always good for a great laugh.

I need everyone to find your best Twister movie memes and start sending them to Troy. It’s a trigger for him and since I doubt he will read this it’ll be a great joke. Troy HATES Twister and about 20 minutes into the recording he bonks his computer when Dave mention the film causing Troy’s recording to stop. We got it back up and running but there’s a hard cut.

Charlie visited Katbird’s Wine and Gourmet Shoppe in Abington, Va to pick up his beer since Pete is a dumbass. If you’re in the area check them out.

Nate has been described as having boarder collie energy. You be the judge.

Featured beer:
I have to give Charlie credit for coining the phrase, “Not all the movies are bad and not every beer is good.” This month is a great example of how true a statement can be. Nate hated one of my most favorite beers ever which just proves “you like what you like” and I’m not here to tell you that you’re wrong.

Chimey Blue
Rogue Newport Daze
Lexington Brewing Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale

Six pack rating:
Dave – 3
Kathleen – 3
Troy – 3
Pete – 4
Charlie – 1
Nate – 2

EP074 – Crabs! (2022)

It’s July and we dive into an amazing independent film written and directed by Pierce Berolzheimer; CRABS! This is a huge recommend so go buy yourself a copy.

This episode descended into madness rather quickly at the end. Clearly it’s the beer’s fault.

Super Fan Jen was joining us from out of town and off mic, except when she wanted to participate which the mic never really caught well enough to hear her comments. Thanks, Jen, for making this one of the most difficult episodes to edit. You’re on the list.

Featured Beer:
– Great Lakes Brewing Company: Ruby’s Revenge
– Columbus Brewing Company: Summer Teeth

Here’s some light reading for those of you interested in knowing more about the Kellerbier lager style.

Chekhov’s Blunt is a new thing that will be added to the show in a similar fashion as “For NANNA!.” Stick around for the outtakes.

EP073 – They’re Watching

This month, GBBMN swapped movies with Steven and Leo over at Spoils of Horror podcast. Kathleen was terrified that I had selected something for SoH to watch and the return movie was revenge for giving them such a stinker. Not so. It was an even exchange with neither of us having seen the selection.

Pete starts the night out with a Six Minute Synopsis by getting almost everyone’s name incorrect. He still gets it done in the time allotted but is that really a victory?

Kathleen and Troy teamed up and came up with an amazing way to fix the film. Let us know what you think.

Snorting tequila is not a recommended way to get your drink on.

Charlie over at Give Me Back My Action / Horror movies has had a profound effect on Troy.

The Cast learned what the word “misophobia” means. Sorry. It’s gross.

We use the “scientific” formula that the Found Footage Fool exercises on the films he watches. Go give him a listen.

Featured beer:
– Little Fish Brewery’s Lay & Love
– Ellicottville Brewery Mow Master

Six-Pack rating:
– Troy: 2
– Dave: 4
-Kathleen: 4
-Pete: 4

EP064 – Zombie Strippers (A Jeff Larkin Tribute)

This show is dedicated to my dear friend Jeff Larkin who unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack at 52. Jeff was the best kind of friend you could have; tough love when you needed a kick in the pants, kindness when you were in pain and fiercely loyal. His laughter was infectious even if his jokes were terrible. He loved and was loved and will be missed. God bless his family and all he touched.

Jeff was part of the original crew of GBBMN when it was just me hosting movie parties in my basement. Zombie Strippers was one of his favorite that we had the misfortune to watch. This show is for you my friend.

Kathleen is jealous of my crazy six-minute synopsis skills and refuses to give me a one minute countdown. Jerk face. I’ll show you.

Kathleen is blessed with participating in a game that not only peels the scabs of old wounds but also grosses out the whole cast. Thanks to Charlie and Nate for the bitchin’ suggestions.

I didn’t get to talk about Madame Blavatsky so I want to make quick mention of her weird life. In a nutshell, she was a Russian spiritualist that moved to the United States and started a cult called Theosophy in 1875.  It has been described as an esoteric religion sharing a boarder-line with occultism.
The Ska band Johnny Scoko sang a song on their debut album Oh! I DO Hope it’s Roast Beef called Madame Blavatsky which is where I first heard of her back in the mid-90s.

We find out that Dave was only a few credits away from being a philosophy major. I dare you to ask him about it.

Pete never got around to telling the strip club story involving he and Dave. I’ll have to put that story back in the pile for later.

Dave picked out some wonderful beer. Well, I say wonderful. They were certainly an experience.
Drekker Brewery’s Braaaaaaains Blackberryberry/Guava
Three Floyd’s Zombie Dust

Troy corrects Pete AGAIN about where in Indiana Three Floyd’s Brewery is located. I get it, Troy. It’s Munster, not Muncie.

Six-Pack Rating:
Troy: 4
Kathleen: 6 (no surprise)
Dave: 4
Pete: 4

EP063 – John Carpenter’s Vampires (1998)

We don’t cover action movies very often but Dave wanted to do this one and who are we to deny him? We had our first “straight” rating. Well it’s more of a straight than a full house. Get with the poker program, Kathleen.

We’re not sure if we’ve ever covered a film with a more unlikable cast.

Pete cut about 20 minutes of unfocused gobbledygook that had nothing to do with nothing and we still had a long episode. Sorry not sorry.

Thanks again to our friends at Perfect Pour for helping us pick out the tasty beers this month.

Beers of the month:
Nocterra Brewery‘s California Swell Line
Voodoo Brewery‘s Voodoo Love Child

Dave – 2
Pete – 3
Troy – 4
Kathleen – 5
