EP086 – Twister (1996)

WOW! Troy REALLY hates this movie and he makes a great argument for his vitriol. Pete says this is a kaiju movie as argues the tornado has some sort of sentience. Dave’s wife Donna joins us for a rollercoaster conversation not to be missed.

Beers of the Month:
Wolf’s Ridge Clear Sky
Butcher and The Brewer Disaster Transport

Six-Pack Rating:
Donna – 1

EP085 – Dick Tracy (1990)

Dick Tracy

You know, when I was typing “Dick Tracy” into my phone, trying to look up information on this stinker of a film, autocorrect changed the title to “Duck Tracy”. I think they should have made THAT film. It would surely have been better than this.

The gang obviously forgot to take their various medications this episode, becuase they are ALL OVER the place. Or maybe they just don’t want to talk about Dick Tracy. Anything is possible.

Six-Pace Rating:
Pete: 4 (and here I thought this was his least favorite movie of all time!)
Kathleen: 4
Troy: 4
Dave: 4

EP084 – Congo (1995)

Pete’s pretty rusty from his trip to Japan as Dave nails down the Six Minute Synopsis.

This episode may have the best fix for a movie we’ve ever come up with.

Pete: 4
Kathleen: 3
Troy: 5

EP083 – Tammy & The T-Rex (1994)

Be sure to watch the film that the cast called “Dumb, in all the ways that dumb can be enjoyable” or “One of the most Good Beer Bad Movie Night movies that we’ve ever movied”!

Tammy and the T-Rex is one of those films that you just can NOT figure out how it got made, until someone reminds you that it was shot in the 90’s, and then it all makes sense.

Plus, we drink beer-adjacent drinks!

Mike’s Hard Lemonade – We did this because it’s Kathleen’s birthday month, and when she’s in charge, you never know WHAT you’re going to get. She mostly wanted to prove to us that tar-belly is real, and give us all a chance to wax nostalgic about underage drinking.

Drekker Braaaaains Raspberry Guava Smoothie Bar – Unbeknownst to us, we drink Drekker Brewery’s Braaaaaains Sour for the second time. (though, the first time we drank a Blackberry / Guava Lemonade version of it for Zombie Strippers) We were not upset by this at all, seeing as how it was f*cking delicious.

Six-Pack Rating:

  • Dave – 3 beers
  • Troy – 3 beers
  • Pete – 0 beers
  • Kathleen – 3 beers

EP081 – Death Becomes Her (1992)

The gang is back with a Hollywood bust in 1992s “Death Becomes Her” that has a shocking amount of star power.

I know Kathleen didn’t actually ask this question but she would like to know if there is a female equivalent of a “scaredy boner.”

Millie joined us again and MAN this kid has opinions. How can you not love her? Just don’t make her anger. You wouldn’t like her when she’s angry.

Featured Beer of the Month
– Straight to Ale’s Monkeynaut
– Wicked Weed’s Pernicious

Six-Pack Rating
-Millie: 6 juice boxes

EP080 – Blades (1989) with special guest Josh from The Evil Deaths podcast

Happy New Year! The gang is kicking off 2024 with special guest Josh from The Evil Deaths podcast. We cover a Jaws rip-off for no particular reason. Sadly Dave was out of town but the whole gang will be joining Josh on his podcast later this month covering Blood Hook.

Dave was dearly missed and you can tell we needed him since we can’t even figure out how to open a beer correctly. We NEED you Dave. No more PTO for you.

Pete hit the jackpot and nailed the Six Minute Synopsis at EXACTLY six minutes. A GBBMN first! Kathleen still calls him a cheater.

Featured beers:
Ellicottville Barrel Aged Raspberry Beret
J. Wakefield Brewing Cooler Than A Taun Taun’s Toenails
Ommegang Three Philosophers

Six-Pack Rating
Josh – Two 10% beers
Troy – FORE!
Kathleen – 4
Pete – 3

We will be recording Blood Hook with Brett and Josh very soon so keep your eyes open for The Evil Deaths next show.

EP079.2 – Santa Charlie skit

Happy Holiday to one and all. The GBBMN crew had such a good time recording the Santa Charlie skit that we decided to release the unedited version as a gift to you. We goof on Charlie and Nate from Give Me Back My Action and Horror Movies podcast but it all in good fun. We love you guys and I expect retaliation in the near future.

E079 – One December Night (2021)

Pete was truly excited to see a Hallmark holiday film starring GBBMN’s patron saint Bruce Campbell. I mean, how bad can it be? It’s got Bruce! Oh how terribly wrong he was. The gang desperately tries to avoid talking about this snooze-fest by remembering all the good movies we’ve watched in the past, like The Swarm for instance.

Pete struggles through explaining what is a Berliner Weiss style beer. He’s supposed to be the beer expert, right. Someone needs to take away his membeership card.

Friends, we’ve seen some bad movies in the past but this one may have exceeded The Swarm as the most reviled film we’ve ever covered. Just listen to the show and please, for the love of Bruce Campbell, never watch this pile of garbage. Dave’s idea for Hallmark Presents: A Christmas Piano has more promise.

This movie nearly broke the case and we’re happy it’s in the rearview window. You have my word that we will do better next year. That said, we’re going to hit the ground running in 2024. We’re so excited to bring more silliness to your ears.

Featured beers:
Voodoo Brewery: Lacto-Kooler
B. Nektar Brewery: Zombie Killer

Six-Pack Rating:
Dave – 5
Kathleen – 5
Pete – 6
Troy – 6

EP078 – Legend – Director’s Cut (1985)

Legend Movie poster

Continuing his weird obsession with 1980s fantasy movies, Dave subjected the cast to Legend (1985), starring Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, and Tim Curry as Darkness.

The cast discuss style over substance, whether the movies we were permitted to watch as children messed us up as adults, and the risks of watching director’s cuts for a podcast about bad movies. We also spend a disproportionate amount of time discussing Tim Curry’s terrifying yet intensely, uncomfortably sexy performance.

Featured beers:

  • Darkness by Surly Brewing Co.
    • IBUs: “moderate,” whatever the hell that means.
    • ABV: 12% (yikes)
  • Tangerine Cream Ale by Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co
    • IBUs: 15
    • ABV: 5.5%

Six Pack Ratings

  • Dave: 1
  • Pete: 4
  • Kathleen: 4
  • Troy: 3
